Business description

The Company has been associated with the sailing industry for the past 40 years in the development of hydraulic equipment, from the first back stay tensioners, vangs and capstans to sophisticated sailing systems for super yachts. They specialise in the custom yacht that requires individual services backed up with long term support.

Over the past 20 years they have concentrated on the development of hydraulic systems for the super yacht market. This has been successful and they now have many of the worlds leading yachts carrying their equipment.

The Company also works closely with the RNLI who have bought electric capstans for all lifeboats for 30 years. They have now also designed and built a new hydraulic capstan for them.

The Company has also worked with the MOD and provided winches for the smaller landing craft for many years and has now won an order for a hydraulic system and custom winch for a new larger landing craft project. Further projects are being discussed.

The owner is now ready to retire and while he is still working full time and travelling he is running out of drive and energy. A ‘guru’ in hydraulics in the superyacht world, all projects he does take on come from word of mouth sources. Owners, captains, designers and project managers coming back to him. The Company’s systems and winches are still acknowledged as some of the best on the market and the most trouble free. Most of the winches serviced in the last 2-3 years are 10 -15 years old and this is their 1st major service, despite enormous mileage.

The Company now needs someone to come in on the management and business side. The owner could stay in the forefront for a short time whilst he passes on his knowledge and introduces his customers, eventually remaining on as a design and hydraulic consultant.

There is an enormous potential in the superyacht industry but, due to the seller’s situation, it is simply not being exploited. With a younger team, drive and ambition, the Company profile could be raised enormous.
