The town is located in Ayrshire near to Kilmarnock. Located in the Irvine valley where lace making was one of the main industries the town has a population of around 5000. The Tavern is a very popular business with locals generating income from both food and wet sales. The restaurant which can also be used for small functions is used each week by the local Rotary club.
